Synopsis

"Conflicting Emotions" While the Silver Surfer has finally accomplished the task of destroying Thanos' shrine to Death, Princess Alaisa is determined to win the love of the Silver Surfer. She asks her personal robot for ways in which she can exceed the power of a mortal so that the Surfer will see her as an equal. One catches her interest and she creates a ceremony calling Mistress Love. She gives Alaisa the power she desires in exchange for her being her avatar and helping her when she needs her. She agrees and is granted the power she desires. Before she leaves, Mistress Love tells her to resist the temptation of the dark side of love. She is almost immediately visited by Master Hate, who follows Mistress Love wherever she goes. Alaisa strikes the same bargain with him and is given the powers of hate as well for her servitude. She now claims that the Princess Alaisa no longer exists, she is now known as Avatar. She seeks out the Silver Surfer and shows him her power. He tells her that she misunderstood and that he claimed they could never be together and that it had nothing to do with her mortality. She becomes angry and turns into her true form, the union of love and hate. She attacks the Surfer and is surprised when he fights back. He escapes her and she claims he will not hide from her.
